Imitation Pizza Pockets

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 hot dogs
  • 2 slices american cheese
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven 350 degrees.
  • 2 mix flour, sugar, 1 tsp salt and baking powder.
  • 3 cut in butter.
  • 4 add milk and kneed into dough and rest 10 minutes.
  • 5 while dough is resting, prep filling by slicing hot dogs into thin "dimes".
  • 6 mix seasoning and 1/4 tsp salt into ketchup and microwave 20 seconds (this makes the ketchup taste like pizza sauce.
  • 7 mix hot dog dimes into ketchup. set aside.
  • 8 cut cheese slices into thirds and set aside.
  • 9 divide dough into 6 balls and roll out into 6" circle on floured surface.
  • 10 on one side of the circle, add a peice of cheese.
  • 11 onto cheese, spoon 1-2 tbs of filling.
  • 12 use finger to make that edge of the circle half wet or the dough might not seal correctly.
  • 13 pull other half of the circle of dough over filling and use a wet fork to crimp the edges. use a knife to trim the edges. (trimmed dough can be used to make more pockets if you add a bit of water and kneed it smooth a bit.).
  • 14 put on greased cookie sheet and bake 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
