Easy Cheesy Shrimp & Grits

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 1/2 lbs shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon old bay seasoning (optional)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes

Recipe

  • 1 boil shrimp. use old bay seasoning in water to add additional flavor. 3-5 minutes in boiling water is usually plenty of time. overcooking makes them tough. set shrimp aside.
  • 2 boil 3 cups water. add grits, reduce heat to medium=low and cover. cook 5-7 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. remove from heat.
  • 3 add remaining ingredients to grits and stir to melt cheese.
  • 4 dish grits into individual bowls and top with shrimp.
