Easy Cheesy Shrimp & Grits

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 1 1/2 lbs shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon old bay seasoning (optional)
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup quick-cooking grits
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
Recipe
- 1 boil shrimp. use old bay seasoning in water to add additional flavor. 3-5 minutes in boiling water is usually plenty of time. overcooking makes them tough. set shrimp aside.
- 2 boil 3 cups water. add grits, reduce heat to medium=low and cover. cook 5-7 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. remove from heat.
- 3 add remaining ingredients to grits and stir to melt cheese.
- 4 dish grits into individual bowls and top with shrimp.
