Italian-style Cream Of Tomato Soup

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons green bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons celery, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried italian herb seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper, ground
  • 1 (16 ounce) can italian stewed tomatoes, undrained or 1 (16 ounce) can italian-style tomatoes, diced
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 cup half-and-half

Recipe

  • 1 combine chicken broth, onion, green bell pepper, celery, garlic powder, salt, herbs and pepper in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • 2 reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
  • 3 add the undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste and sugar. bring to a boil.
  • 4 reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
  • 5 stir in half-and-half and heat through. serve!
