Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef, browned and drained
- 1 lb sweet italian sausage, browned and drained
- 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 -2 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 3 cups vegetable juice cocktail (like v-8)
- 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
Recipe
- 1 in large dutch oven brown meats, drain off fat. add seasonings and corn starch, tomato sauce, tomato paste and v-8 juice to browned ground meats. simmer on medium low heat for 30 minutes.
- 2 serve over cooked pasta. can be used as sauce for lasagna.
- 3 note: for those on reduced sodium diets, replace salt with salt substitute or mrs dash garlic & herb seasoning mix; replace sauces and juice with available low sodium products. splenda sugar substitute may be used in place of sugar.
