Fried Mozzarella Cheese With Marinara

Total Time: 15 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 8 ounces marinara sauce, chilled
  • vegetable oil

Recipe

  • 1 cut the mozzarella into sticks a bit more than about 1/4 inch thick and about 1 1/2 inches long.
  • 2 coat the sticks with flour, shaking off excess.
  • 3 combine the bread crumbs and seasonings in a flat dish.
  • 4 beat the eggs and place in a separate bowl.
  • 5 coat the sticks by dipping them in the egg and then in the bread crumbs.
  • 6 the coating on the first stick should be fairly dry when you finish the last stick.
  • 7 repeat with another dip in the egg and then in the bread crumbs.
  • 8 deep-fry the coated sticks in oil for about 3 to 4 minutes until the coating is cooked.
  • 9 fry in batches, keeping the finished ones warm in the oven.
  • 10 serve with chilled marinara sauce or salsa.
