Italian Meatballs

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 lbs 88% lean ground beef
  • 5/8 lb ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (such as tapatio or sriracha)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon minced dried onion
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • olive oil, for browning
  • 2 (26 ounce) jars marinara sauce

Recipe

  • 1 mix all dry ingredients in a small bowl.
  • 2 in a medium sized bowl, combine both ground meats until well-mixed.
  • 3 add in eggs, milk, worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce and mix well.
  • 4 add all dry ingredients to meat mixture and mix well.
  • 5 meanwhile, heat a saucepan on medium-high heat with about a teaspoon of olive oil.
  • 6 heat up marinara sauce in a separate large pot, such as a 5-quart dutch oven.
  • 7 form meat mixture into golf-ball sized balls and place gently into hot saucepan, watching carefully so as to only brown the outside.
  • 8 gently drop the browned meatballs into the simmering marinara sauce, cover and turn heat down to medium-low (about 2 or 3).
  • 9 let simmer for 30-60 minutes.
