German-style Short Ribs

- 3 lbs beef short ribs
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 10 1/2 ounces french onion soup
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 -3 slices pumpernickel bread, crumbled
- cooked egg noodles
Recipe
- 1 in a large soup pot over medium heat, brown ribs in oil for 6 to 8 minutes; drain. add soup, water, lemon juice and seasonings; bring to a boil. cover and reduce heat to low. simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. stir in bread and serve over noodles.
