German-style Short Ribs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3 lbs beef short ribs
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 10 1/2 ounces french onion soup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 -3 slices pumpernickel bread, crumbled
  • cooked egg noodles

Recipe

  • 1 in a large soup pot over medium heat, brown ribs in oil for 6 to 8 minutes; drain. add soup, water, lemon juice and seasonings; bring to a boil. cover and reduce heat to low. simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. stir in bread and serve over noodles.
