Lori's Blt Salad

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried savory
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 pinch fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne
  • 1 (12 ounce) package bacon (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 1/2 cups bread (cubed)
  • salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 1/2 cup light mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh cracked pepper
  • 2 heads romaine lettuce hearts (torn)
  • 3 large tomatoes (chopped, rinsed, drained)

Recipe

  • 1 combine the basil, savory, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, pepper and cayenne.
  • 2 set aside 1 teaspoons.
  • 3 brown bacon in a large skillet. remove with a slotted spoon. drain on papper towels.
  • 4 to skillet add oil. heat until hot.
  • 5 add bread. saute until golden. drain.
  • 6 toss with remaining seasoning mix and a little salt.
  • 7 whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, pepper and the reserved teaspoons of seasoning mix.
  • 8 layer lettuce, bacon and tomatoes in a glass bowl.
  • 9 spread dressing on top.
  • 10 cover. chill 1 hour.
  • 11 toss with croutons. serve.
